Altruvest’s Annual Donor and Community Appreciation Event 2023: A Celebration of Impact

In December, Altruvest hosted the Annual Donor and Community Appreciation Event. This joyous occasion brought together our Founder & Chairman, Rob Follows, the Altruvest Board of Directors, dedicated staff, and volunteers, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and celebration. Today, we take a moment to recap this inspiring event, sharing the highlights and expressing our thanks to everyone who played a role in making it a success.

Welcoming a New Era: Joe Roberts as Executive Director

A pivotal moment of the evening was the introduction of our new Executive Director, Joe Roberts. With a rich background in the charitable sector, Joe brings not only experience but also a deep passion for our mission. As we look toward the future, we are excited for the positive impact of his leadership in helping us fulfill our 2024 objectives and expansion strategy.

Championing Change: Corporate Sponsors and BoardMatch Leaders

The success of our BoardMatch Leaders (BML) program was evident through the 65 BoardMatch Leaders (BML) who actively participated in the Program in Toronto and Vancouver last year. Our heartfelt thanks go to corporate sponsors like Charles Marful, Director at EY Canada, whose support has been instrumental in the program’s growth. We also had the opportunity to hear from Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada, who shed light on the importance of BML in bringing skilled individuals to charity boards.

Cheers to Success and Impact: Graduates and Charities Share Perspectives

The evening’s spotlight shone brightly on recent BML graduates, including Rozana Khalil of EY Canada and Shafiq Vallani of Telus, as they took the stage to share their inspiring journeys. Rozana’s commitment to the Working Women Community Centre Board and Shafiq’s dedication to Hockey Helps the Homeless showcased the real and tangible impact of the BML program.

Their voices echoed through the venue, offering firsthand insights into how BML not only prepared them for their roles but also catalyzed meaningful change within their respective charity boards. These personal narratives highlighted the power of the program, emphasizing the profound effect skilled individuals can have when matched with organizations aligned with their passions.

In sharing their experiences, Rozana and Shafiq provided an understanding of the complimentary relationship between graduates and charities. The event became a celebration not just of individual success but of the collaborative spirit that defines the BML program, where graduates and charities work hand in hand to create lasting positive change within the communities they serve.

Capturing Triumphs: The BoardMatch Leaders Program Unveiled

As a special feature, a video was unveiled, offering a glimpse into the experiences and success stories from the BML program. This visual journey showcased the transformative impact of leaders and the positive change they have brought to the charities they serve.
